Jewell Melillo

PE

Ms. Melillo is a Physical Education teacher at Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ Charter Middle School, also serving as the head coach of girls’ volleyball, girls’ basketball, and boys’/girls’ track & field. She attended Canon City High School in Colorado, where she played volleyball, basketball, and ran track. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Evangel University in 1983, with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health, playing basketball there as well. In 2008 Ms. Melillo was honored with the Tri-Peaks League – East Division “Coach of The Year” award for high school volleyball. In the summer of 2004, she went on a 4-week tour with “The Destiny Project” running basketball camps and 3 on 3 tournaments on the East Coast.  That tour provided contacts that led her to her current position here at Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ which she began in 2004.  Ms. Melillo has also been the school’s coordinator for “Hoops for Heart” and “Jump Rope for Heart” during heart month since the 2009-2010 school. She has 3 children and 6 grandchildren and loves spending time with family. In her spare time, she also loves hiking, movies, and writing poetry.
